Apple iPad Pros that work with Amply

An iPad Pro with LiDAR is required, see list of all model numbers

Written by Matt Lowes

Buy this: iPad Pro 11" (M5 chip), 256GB, Wi-Fi

This is the exact configuration we recommend for Amply. 256GB is more than enough storage. Cellular enabled is optional; a cell connection is not required to run Amply. Any color/finish works the same.

Already own an iPad Pro?

Any iPad Pro made in 2021 or later will run Amply. Newer models (M4 or M5 chip) perform best. Older models from 2021 (the "4th generation" 11" or 12.9" Pro) will still work, just with somewhat slower processing.

Not sure which iPad you have? Go to Settings → General → About and look for "Model Name." More details here.

iPad cases

Most users keep a case on their iPad day to day. Any case works, with two things to watch for:

  • Avoid cases that cover the camera — any film or cover over the camera affects the LiDAR scanner.

  • Make sure the case cover can't accidentally flip closed over the camera while scanning.

Frequently asked questions

Does Amply work on iPhones, Samsung tablets, or laptops?
No. Amply requires an iPad Pro's LiDAR scanner — there's currently no other tablet on the market with a LiDAR sensor powerful enough to scan a home.

Do I need cellular data on the iPad?
No. Amply is designed to work almost entirely offline. Wi-Fi only is fine — cellular is optional if you want it, but not required.

Can I use an iPad Air?

No. Amply requires an iPad Pro.
