Overview
Photos are an essential part of documenting home details. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words... so we make it easy to add them to your project.
With every photo, you can also:
Add augmented reality equipment to bring the design to life.
Add notes
Add simple drawings (or visualize line-set runs)
Take a photo of an indoor room
After scanning a room or zone, we immediately activate the camera so you can take a picture or add one from your photo library. This allows you to visualize equipment like ductless indoor units or ceiling grills for a ducted project or simply document the space that you scanned.
3D Augmented Reality (AR) visuals
While you are still at the home, you can make AR visualizations of a whole range of equipment:

Floor console
1-way and 4-way ceiling cassettes

Instructions
Select "Equipment"
Choose your
Unit TypeandCapacityTap "Place 3D Model"
Aim the camera where you want to place it
Tap on the screen to place the unit
Drag to move the unit along the surface to your preferred location
Optional:
Rotatethe model or adjust theLighting Intensityas needed
Take a picture to save the visual
Need to adjust the lighting, rotate the model, or remove it?
Look for the extra options in the lower right of the screen. You can remove the 3D prior to taking the photo. Once you have taken the photo, you cannot remove the 3D model.
If you want to remove the 3D model after taking the photo, you will need to delete the photo and take a new photo.
2D Visuals or plain photos
If you prefer, or are no longer at the customer's home, you can use the "Place 2D Model" option to create equipment visuals. This is also a great option if you simply want to take a picture of the space, but don't need to visualize equipment.
Capture multiple pictures for a single room
Sometimes you want to show multiple visuals for a single room. Here is an easy workaround that allows you to do that.
The key actions are to workaround the one room, one photo limitation are:
Start a new Indoor scan as though you were going to scan the room again but immediately end the scanning process before any geometry is captured.
The key with this step is that you are adding an additional indoor scan that is not adding additional load. The "empty" scan gives you the chance to show a second option or a second piece of equipment in the room.
Give the room a helpful name like "Office option #2". This will make it easy to know that it's the second visual for the room.
You can then take a photo and add the second equipment visualization option.
Add notes to a photo
Just tap the Notes field next to any picture to add details about the room, outdoor unit or anything else you want to document.
Add drawings to a photo
Add simple line drawings on top of any photo. We also offer additional colors that match the most common line-hide colors.
Draw line set
After you have taken a photo, use the Draw Slim Ducts option to visualize slim duct / line set runs in the most common manufacturer colors.
Outdoor photos and 3D equipment visuals
In the "Outdoor" section, you can take a photo and/or add equipment to visualize the outdoor unit, capture notes and draw the line-set to bring the details to life for your customer and your install team.
Note: at the moment, we do not visualize the mounting configurations, stands or brackets for outdoor equipment. However, you can document what type of mounting configuration you would like to do as part of the equipment visualization workflow

Three different outdoor unit visuals are available for these capacity ranges:
Small chassis (6 - 12k Btu/h)
Medium (15 - 24k)
Large double-fan (36 - 60k)
Quilt Equipment
We have partnered with Quilt, a leading manufacturer of ductless mini-splits. Learn more about Quilt.
They currently offer one outdoor unit with 24k nominal capacity that we can visualize.
Vertical Discharge (Unitary style) Units
Capacity options range from 18k - 60k in 6k (half-ton) increments.
Show multiple outdoor units in one photo
Amply does not currently allow you to show multiple 3D units in a single photo. We've heard you that this feature would be helpful. Here are a couple ways to work around the current one 3D model to one photo relationship:
Show a 3D model and add a 2D model
The steps are:
Start an Outdoor photo
Before taking the photo, press Equipment > select the equipment you want > place the 3D model.
Note that if the 3D model looks too large in the photo, you can take steps back to reorient the photo.
When the 3D model looks right, take the photo.
You will now have the option to place an additional 2D model in the photo.
Select your 2D model and place it where you envision the second unit going.
Draw slim ducts to approximate where the second unit will go
Alternatively, after placing the 3D model, you can use the Draw Slim Ducts feature to draw an outline of where the second unit will go. This solution is more of an approximation than the 3D + 2D model answer.
Electrical/Other photos
Use the Electrical/Other section to capture an unlimited number of additional photos.
We recommend documenting key details like:
Electrical panel: Close-up of the main electrical panel (so you can see how many available breaker slots you have)
Main panel: A wide-angle shot of the main panel (to orient your electrician on install challenges and opportunities)
Any existing equipment (furnace, etc)
Any additional outdoor photos that may impact how your team will complete the work.
For every photo you can add a custom name, add notes and draw on the image.
Photos are automatically included in the Design Report
Every picture you take will be automatically rolled into the Design Report that you can share with the homeowner and the install team. Learn more about the Design Report.
