Overview

We always recommend scanning the home on a room-by-room basis. This enables faster, more accurate scans, room-level loads, room CFM estimates and more...but you also need a complete floor plan to understand how the rooms relate to each other.

Floor plans are great, they:

  • Enable better design decisions and installation planning

  • Help verify you captured every room in a building story

  • Make projects easier to communicate with customers and teams

  • Sometimes are required for permits or rebates

  • And more

How to open a floor plan

After scanning all or a portion of a story of a home, you can view the floor plan of a given story of the home by:

  1. Tap the "Scans" view of the home

  2. Select a "Story"

  3. Select "Floor Plan" in the lower right

Adjust the floor plan view

Rotate the view by using a single finger drag on the background

Translate up/down or left/right with a two-finger drag

Zoom in or out with a "pinch" gesture with two fingers

Edit a floor plan

Does your floor plan not look right or are the rooms overlapping incorrectly? This is the section for you!

For homes scanned after updating to Amply version 5.0.0, floor plans are generated automatically.

However, sometimes small adjustments need to be made because:

  1. The scanning process was disrupted for some reason while in the home. For example, closing the iPad or navigating out of the project can disrupt the scan and affect how new rooms are stitched together.

  2. Automatic room placement is not perfect. We're working to make it better!

Instructions for fixing misaligned rooms:

  1. Toggle "Edit Mode"

  2. Move rooms or

  3. Snap or unlink rooms via doors

Do you not see the doors you expect to see when manually updating the floor plan?

If you are editing the floor plan and you do not see the doors you expect to see available for linking rooms, the issue is likely that that feature of the room scan is not labeled as a door. Only doors will glow blue and show as options to link rooms.

The solution is to navigate back to that room scan and edit that room feature to be a door. See this help article on how to convert openings into doors.

Manually create a floor plan from an old scan

Projects and scans completed before Amply 5.0.0 can be manually stitched together by linking rooms together via doors
