Using Amply for residential new construction projects

How to use Amply with partially built home

Written by Matt Lowes

When Amply can work with new construction

If the exterior framing and sheathing are in place, as well as rough openings for doors and windows, you can scan the exterior walls to get a generate a story-by-story block load.

Limitations

  • If interior walls have open stud bays (i.e. no drywall) the LiDAR will not be able to detect the walls so you will not be able to complete a room-by-room load calculation

  • If all you have is a set of blueprints or plans, Amply cannot help today. The only way to get building geometry into Amply is by scanning an existing structure

Conclusion

A block load is usually enough to select outdoor units and build a quote and win a bid, and you can go back later to scan individual rooms once the drywall is up.
